Proximity: Close to You
How has moving next to a student who is disrupting and teaching from that position served as an intervention? Do you always teach from behind your desk? What would happen if you did not? What works?
I have noticed that when I do have students who are disruptive in class and I move them to the front of class, where I teach from, they usually do better in class. Some students will ask me if they are good if they can move back to where they were. Sometimes I will tell them if they are good for a week or so, they can move back. That is not the case for all students. I have found out that if I walk around the whole classroom, it keeps the class as a whole quieter.
