The students receive a bathroom pass each week with 5 spaces. This allows them one each day. Each time they leave for the bathroom, they fill in one space. At the end of the week, they get a raffle ticket for empty spaces. For the raffle, we draw for seat cushions, lunch with the teacher, Bobcat Bucks, etc. At this point in the year, this seems to be doing the trick!
I have been doing something similar to Heidi's idea. They get 3 passes a week, and if they don't use them, they are entered in a drawing for little prizes. I do have some students who are allowed more passes due to personal issues.
Consider the age of the child and whether or not there are disability issues.

ReplyDeleteI think it is great that you are taking into consideration individual needs of students. It shows you genuinely care.
